2008 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala

The annual Costume Institute gala is the ultimate event of the year for celebrities and designers to dress as over the top as they can. This years theme was "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy". Unfortunately most of the stars didn't follow the theme but there were some notable costumes. Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour went all out in a galactic Chanel gown modeled after the X-Men's Storm, Lake Bell donned a dazzling Balmain mini skirt with the traditional shazam lighting bolts and fashion designer Zac Posen opted with x-ray vision as his superpower and dress up as Superman.
